♥ 3 Things I would Like

I like this dress from Free People, it's the kind of dress I'd wear with boots and go walking in the wilderness or desert in. Which I wouldn't mind right now...least there it would be hot, haha! I'd do anything for some sunshine just now. You can see other pictures of the dress & other pretty things on Free People's website.

When I'm done with the above dress & heading out for something sweet, I will wear this dress, gloves - shoes and all!! Created by the amazing (one of my favourites) Ulyana Sergeenko. Seriously, her creations are perfect for me. I'd wear them all!

I would like some chalkboard nails...then I can write things on them that I need to remember or to tell people in certain words when they annoy me, hahaha! Seen here.

♥ Lately

Listening: To the new Hurts album, a bit different from their first, but I like the song 'Blind'.  Watching: Well, I will be watching the adaptation for Kate Mosse's book 'Labyrinth' on Saturday. I loved the book, so I hope this does it justice. If you've not read it, you should. Reading: Not really anything, am browsing for new books at the moment. Eating: a warmed up cinnamon bun with gorgeous cream cheese frosting on it...am addicted.

♥ 30 Things to start doing for yourself.

The History of Passover, as many are celebrating, I found this article quite interesting for those who might not know what it is. I'm all about knowing all history even if I know some already, so I enjoyed this.

I really enjoyed the darling Miss Meadows' blog post showcasing the wonderful works of Katerina Plotnikova, they are exquisite & take you to another dreamworld!

22 Random Acts of Kindness - warmed my heart this week.

I love food, so la Madeleine's pinterest caught my attention, if your on my facebook page, you would have seen one of her pins that I shared. I'm also a big fan of the dainty treats Carole makes & shares on her gorgeous blog Mademoiselle Poirot.

Forget traditional egg decorating, why not try something a little bit differently, like Tattooed Eggs, I quite like it...the possibilities are endless.

Happy Easter!

{Creator} Mister Finch's Textile Art

A while back I came across Mister Finch and his textile art & immediately became besotted with everything. It reminded me of childhood days spent running through fields, flying kites and watching clouds shaped like bunnies float by as we daydreamed of magical places we wanted to go to. All those happy memories came back when I saw his wondrous works. He makes things of dreams and fairytales, drawing influences greatly from nature and folklore stories of lessons to learn and warnings of life. You almost expect each piece to fly away or move to speak to you as delightful creatures do in the books, this is done by the way he humanises the animals with shoes, boots and expression. Mister Finch has said that he imagines them coming alive at night, getting dressed and living out their secret life - this to me would be amazing, I'd love it. But, what I think is most excellent of all, is that he's had no formal training in anything he makes, he did take a short art course many years back, but all the sewing & creating he's learned on his own. It just shows that creativity and going for it, is what counts most in the creation of art. It can't be completely taught, it has to come from the inside. Most of his pieces use recycled materials, not only as an ethical statement, but also one of continuing on the story of these pieces, creating new adventures & stories wound together with love! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do & pay Mister Finch a visit & get lost in the fairytales he creates!

Have a beautiful day dolls

I could scare my husband with this, but it is quite magnificent!

I love the contrast of the furry bit to the textured feel of the textile fabric used, so pretty!

I love owls...they always make me think of Labyrinth or Harry Potter, gorgeous!

The cloak around the fox is really special, I'm almost waiting for the fox to wake up.

Hooded Fabric Hare that I'm in love with, so beautiful <3

Jean Genie from Wildpair

As most of you know by now, I'm not a huge fan of trousers & jeans! Well, that’s usually because I find them boring and plain sometimes. I do wear them when I need to clean my house or whatever, otherwise I never wear them. But, when I was younger, I had a floral pair that I practically lived in until they fell apart - so to speak. Why wear jeans that look like everyone else’s when you can have something different!?! Wild Pair have denim with style and character!!! What I enjoy about this company before even looking at their merchandise is knowing they are a privately owned, New Zealand family run/owned business. Started in April of 2004.  They offer fashion forward shoes, clothes and accessories. I've included below some of my very favourite denim jeans, so let’s check them out:

WildPair Website

Anyone obsessed with wallpaper or William Morris like I am, will love these! I quite adore them!!

For those ladies that live a colourful life, these are sweet!

For the rock chick in you, love the stud detailing
Just over the one pocket, it’s unique and makes a statement.

Of course, we need flowers somewhere & here they are!!
There are other floral patterns on the site as well. But, I loved
These colourless ones for something different.

I really think Wild Pair offer something different and stylish without providing the same style as everyone else. They offer a range of ways to purchase, fair returns/exchange policy and do their very best to ensure you are one satisfied customer. Be sure to check them out on their website,  facebook or twitter pages. They deliver all over the world. And offer free shipping on all Australian & New Zealand orders.

{Sometimes} You've gotta Make your Own Sunshine!

Good Monday dolls! Well, the weather continued on it's cold state here, so I spent most of it inside. Sometimes you really do need to make your own sunshine. We played games, watched shows & ate strawberry tarts & pretended it was lovely outside.  This is the craziest weather we've had. But...we'll be positive it'll go soon A colour that always gets me in the mood for spring is yellow, I've been looking at yellow vintage dresses lately. It doesn't have to be really bright, just a little is enough for me to sit in while at the beach basking in the sunshine (when it comes) and listening to the waves crash over the rocks. Wearing a bit of yellow means I can take the sunshine wherever I go & remember the feelings it brings, so that I may pass that happiness on to those I meet. I hope you find sunshine in your hearts to share with others too...have a great day!!

{Happy Friday} A Little bit of Me!

Good day dolls, it's finally Friday....thought the week would never end. My husband had a different day off than usual and it made the week feel messed up, I kept forgetting what day it was. But, alas it's Friday now!! The weather keeps trying to pick up here, sun has been out, but it's still bitterly cold. I know some of you have had snow - yikes, I hope it leaves you soon. I got an award and since I had nothing planned for today, I thought I would get it done :) I love doing these & it's so nice that one thought to give it to you too. You should check out Eleanor's blog, I do enjoy reading her posts, she's a darling girl! Well, lots to read here, so I'll stop & wish you a wonderful weekend!!

Loves n' Loves to you all

xoxoxoxox

So, here is how it works:

1. When you receive the award, you post 11 random facts about yourself

2. You must answer 11 questions from the person who nominated you.
3. Pass the award onto 11 other blogs
4. Ask them 11 questions.

5. You are not allowed to nominate the blogger who nominated you!

I will nominate people later when I've chosen questions.

11 Random Things about Me

1. I was the arty goth geek in school. 2. I love buying fashion or decorating magazines & making collages out of them. 3. I want to get a tattoo sometime when I am certain to what I want to get. 4. I love being outside & getting dirty. 5. Kids at school thought I was a strange girl because I used to sit in the library and read Edgar Allen Poe when I was 7 or 8, but I loved his writings. I got picked on a lot at school. 6. Love scary movies, although I end up awake at night, too scared to go to sleep. 7. I love anything with polka dots or stripes on it, obsessed with those patterns. 8. I usually listen to rock music, love guitars, I have some friends in bands in different places in the world & used to spend a lot of my money going to gigs all the time. 9. I adore Burlesque...it's an enchanting art form. Some of the most beautiful women in the world have been burlesque dancers. 10. I don't drink, I don't smoke. I won't eat anything genetically modified or with nasty additives in it. 11. I had masses of Barbies when I was little, although I would end up cutting their hair and colouring them with markers, so they would fit in with my G.I. Joe figures and He-Man toys!!

My 11 questions from Eleanor:

1. If you could live in any country other than the one you are in where would you live? France maybe, in Paris working at a beautiful art gallery.  Anywhere beautiful with art. Some place completely warm wouldn't go amiss to me as well :)

2. Chocolate or marshmallow? Chocolate of course :) Yeah...the picture is pretty much how I feel about chocolate...I'd swan around in it myself, ha!

3. If you could buy clothes from only one shop for the rest of your life what would it be? The Boudoir Queen of course- as most of you know, I'm besotted with their creations, the vintage mixed with a bit of rock n' roll is perfect, plus Dawn is uber talented, so she can create me pretties to last for a lifetime, just adore them so much

4. What is the coolest place you have travelled to? No idea....I need to travel more to be honest. But, before I came to the UK from America, I would say the UK, because it's so diverse & un-like the typical stereotypes you see on American TV.  There are so many places here that are like being on other planets, the old structures and history is amazing, but to be honest the weather can suck big time, haha. Paris also makes the list, I adored seeing that the first time. So many places to go & discover yet, like Japan for example!

5. If you had a pet what animal would it be and what would you name it? I have pet geckos, 6 of them. They are all named after X-Men characters: Storm, Wolverine, Beast, Jean Grey, Rogue & Shadow Cat. I plan on getting a electric blue day gecko and a bunny! I still need to take pictures of my geckos, so here is a picture of the ones I would like to have sometime.

Yes, so cute :)

6. Which celebrity would be your ideal lover? Hahahaha....well, being married my husband is just that. But, celebrity wise I have no idea. I don't really think of celebrities in that way...but I would have said Brandon Lee had he still been alive, he was beautiful. As you know from an old post, I was besotted with him as a teenager. Though funnily enough, I always knew my future husband's name would be Gavin & that's just what his name is!

Brandon Lee

7. If you could be a 1950s film star who would you be and why? Audrey Hepburn, because along with her gigantic amounts of talent, she had an even bigger heart & did a lot for charity and children. And she lived a life full of love and happiness. Most other actresses I could have picked had lives of mess and heart ache and died of weird circumstances. Audrey was/is special.

8.  What is your favourite song and why? I can't really pick a favourite, I love music too much. I can connect a song to every emotion and time I've ever had, so they all mean something special & different. But one at the moment is by my friend named Jonny, under the name of Polar Moon, called 'Watch The Stars Explode'. I'll have a post on him soon, he's a beautiful soul :)

9.  What songs would make up the soundtrack to your life? Goodness, this is a bit tough, as I love so many songs and I can easily pinpoint them to different times/moments in my life. I just picked some random songs that I have liked at different periods of life, there's too many to choose from.

Childhood: Mamas & The Papas - California Dreamin' , Kate Bush - Cloudbusting, Bowie - Dance Magic Dance, Gladys Knight & The Pips - Midnight Train to Georgia, Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, The Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian

Teenage Years: Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit , Hole - Doll Parts, Nine Inch Nails - Head Like a HoleBjork - Army of Me, Smashing Pumpkins - Today, T-Rex - Children of The Revolution - Ok, clearly I'd be here all day with bitchin' tunes for you!!

Adulthood: All of the above & these: Kill Hannah - Believer, Pink - Perfect Lana Del Ray - Blue Jeans

10. Can you speak a foreign language and if so which ones? Not completely...I can speak a bit of French & Spanish, but I should really get my backside in gear & learn properly. I learned naughty words in Spanish when I was little from a friend & I used to say them at home so no one would know what I was saying & I couldn't get into trouble, Ha!

11. If you could be a fruit, what would you be? A strawberry, because the best ones are sweet, but sometimes a little sour and that's me really. I'm sweet, but if someone takes the piss, I can be quite sour and stick up for myself.
